Welcome to Term 3 2017

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome to Term 3.

I trust that you all enjoyed a happy and restful winter break with your family and now feel re-energised for the busy term ahead. It's encouraging to see the children returning to school with a healthy enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Let's keep that spirit alive!

Term 3 will be interesting with the various activities planned, so we look forward to working closely with you. I am confident that from the many learning experiences that St Mary's School is able to offer and under the guidance of our dedicated staff, that our students will continue to progress with confidence.

Our children continue to inspire us with their remarkable achievements.  On 4th August we have a number of children representing the school at the Eastern Region Athletics Trial. Yesterday Cathy Z in Year 2 was announced a finalist in the Young Archibald Competition.  Cathy's picture of her brother William is on display at the Art Gallery of NSW until 22 October 2017.  Recently Orlando was highly commended in the 2017 NSW Storytelling Competition, the only Year 5 student in the State to reach the final stage of competition.  Lachlan in Year 6 is currently representing Australia in the US Kids Golf World Championship and closer to home, Josh in Year 6 recently received an award in the North Sydney Young Writers Competition.  Each child has a gift, and it is pleasing to see so many using their talents to aspire, inspire and make a difference.

Building Update

The School Holidays provided opportunity for major electrical installation work in the administration section of the school as well as continued work on the building site.
Comms Room:  New flooring and a new Server were installed in the Comms Room.  Extensive cabling was laid under the kinder courtyard and Principal's office as well as in the roof cavities, all of which will eventually connect to the new building.
Jacaranda Pruning:  The Jacaranda was pruned under Arborist instruction.
New Building:  The new building is definitely taking shape - it is an exciting time as each day reveals more shape and form.  Scaffold is now up, last level concrete pour early next month, with structural steel and roof to follow.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

Principal
